Decorating Ideas For My Bedroom
Long story short - my parents split up around 6 years, dad moved out, me my sister and mum stayed in the house. My sister has recently just flown the nest and has moved out with her friend. Dad is now buying back the house so me and mum are planning on renting it from him. Weird situation I know, but it seems like the best option for all of us. Dad is actually planning on doing the house up, giving it a big make over and renting it out in the future anyway. So the plan is that we will stay in the house, pay rent and help dad with making it all pretty. It gives my dad plenty of time to make whatever changes he wants and also gives him time to save up.
I want my room to be bright and colourful so I going to paint it cream and decorate it with lots of pastel yellow and lime green trimmings. My favourite flowers are sunflowers and white daises so they will fit perfectly into this colour scheme. I want lots of flowers everywhere just to make my room look fresh and pretty.
Because we will be living in the house for say maybe a year or 2 (maybe longer if we just decide to stay and continue to rent it out) dad has said that I will have an influence and a say as to what way he does it up. Of course, me being me, I already have planned out in my head how I want things to be decorated.
Let's start with my bedroom :) I am currently up in the attic, it gets pretty cold up there but dad is going to insulate it and he is planning to put new radiators in throughout the whole house so hopefully that will make a massive difference.
I am planning on just using my room as like a storage/movie room and where I sleep of course. I am keeping my bed up there as I am so used to sleeping in the attic that I don't think I could sleep anywhere else.
I am going to put a big bookcase in my room and keep things like books (obviously lol) DVDs and my memory boxes & scrapbooks etc.
I'm also going to keep my TV and Wii for watching movies and Youtube of course.

I also love citrus smells and well don't two of them just happen to be yellow and green. So of course my room is going to be covered in candles.
This sounds amazing! My parents are just going through the divorce process so I too now have some decorating to do in two houses - this was lovely for ideas! I'm going for two completely different themes; one will be crazily colourful and teenage whereas the other will be entirely monochrome. The one thing that both will have in common though is a HUGE amount of fairy lights - they make everything look prettier! xx

Matilda that sounds amazing, it's nice to have two differently themed rooms, let me know how it all turns out. Sorry to hear about your parents, it sucks but if they are going to be happier then you just gota be happy for them :)

I love the ideas, I'm thinking of adding a bunch of flowers to my room as well! Especially with spring already here, it's an amazing idea. I love the candles as well, have you smelled the limited edition ones? I fell in love with the sweet pink from the garden collection the other day, Yankee candles all smell so amazing!

Thanks Michelle, i'll be sure to have a look. You can just add new stuff to your room to make it look different, you don't have to fully decorate to change it about :)
