Same Love
I've been wanting to write this post for a while but I just didn't know how to start it. When I first heard the song "Same Love" while I was in America this summer, I instantly feel in love with it. It honestly really did touch my heart and I couldn't be more happy for this success of it and for all the equality awareness it has raised. It's message is very strong; someones sexuality, religion & beliefs or race & culture should not be judged. I have always believed that if it is not hurting anyone then why does it matter who someone falls in love with or who they pray to? Just because someone doesn't believe in the same things as you or look the way you do, does not give any one person to think that they are better or superior to anyone. Watch this inspirational video that genuinely made me cry as I was so touched by it.
I wrote a post about bullying and about how you should not be ashamed about who you are just because it maybe doesn't please someone else. We are all different and we are all entitled to our own personal opinions and ways of life. I just honestly don't understand why people take things so personally when it has NOTHING to do with them or their life. Yes ok maybe some people don't agree with homosexuality and that's fine, no one is asking you to support it but don't try and shove your views down everyone's throats. Especially then in turn you are hurting someone else by telling them that what they are doing is "wrong". If they are happy and it's not affecting anyone else harmfully then what is your problem?
We all discriminate, even if we try our best not to. But discrimination isn't just about skin colour or sexuality, it's about everything. It could be you and your friends making fun of a girl at school for what she wears. It's about judging someone on any aspect of their life. Yes I do admit, I do discriminate AGAINST people who hurt others and try to make people's life miserable. So just be careful about what you say to people and how you treat them. Is it ok to make fun of someone because they dress differently to you? Is it ok to taunt and tease someone because they are smart and get good grades? Is it ok to push someone around because they have a disability or learning disorder? Is it ok to leave someone out because their skin is a different colour to you and your friends? NO! NO! NO! The answer is ALWAYS no!!! You never know what is going on in someone's personal life so don't judge them for something they have no control or power over.
Reading blogs for a few years introduced me to Lush back in the day. I love all of their products especially because they are all made from fresh and organic fruit & veg. None of their ingredients are tested on animals which I highly support. Their range is just so versatile, smells delicious and leaves you feeling gorgeous. Anyways, I have recently discovered that Lush are supporting an organisation called All Out, their aim (in their words) is; to build a world where no person will have to sacrifice their family or freedom, safety or dignity, because of who they are or who they love.
I am super happy that such a world-wide popular company such as Lush have invested their time and efforts to proudly support such an amazing campaign. There is even an article about it on Vogue Beauty, check it out; Lush Makes A Stand For Gay Rights
I am delighted to say that I am a regular Lush customer and will always be happy to purchase their products as they believe in the environment and human rights as much as I do.
In conclusion, don't judge people on things that they cannot change. Judge people on the bad decisions and choices they make which damage and devastate others.
Love each other and more importantly, love yourself.
Stand up for yourself and stand up for those you can't stand up for themselves.
You are who you are, don't try to change it, embrace it.
Don't hate.
