Healthy Snack Alternatives

Since I work full time, when I find myself feeling a bit peckish I usually go to the vending machine and buy crisps. THIS IS NOT OK! I am trying to eat healthier and Walkers just keep whispering sweet fat nothings in my ear. Enough is enough (I still love you though, #curvychubbygirlproblems). So I have came up with a few ideas that I am going to start bringing with me to work so I can snack inbetween meals. Portion control is what it is all about and eating smaller more regular meals is supposed to be great for your metabolbism. (For all of you under the age of like 21, appreciate your metabolbism right now, make it your best friend because when you hit my age, it will go downhill and fast).

Here are a few ideas that I personally find delicious and I'm not even really missing junk food, well not every minute of everyday anyway.

Carrot sticks with hummus.
Bell pepper slices, cucumber, baby tomatoes and celery are all great crisp and crunchy veggies to nibble on.
Apple slices with organic peanut butter.
Edamame.
Fresh fruit.
Dried fruit without all the added sugars.
Plain nuts, not salted or honeyroasted etc.
Sunflower, pumpkin, hemp, chia and flaxseeds.
Greek yoghurts.
Granola bars.
Whole wheat toast.
Crackerbreads with homemade topping like salsa, guacamole or whatever is your favourite. Making your own is always a better alternative because there won't be any additives or perservatives.
A homemade smoothie, you can add whatever fruit and vegetables you like. Try making a few different ones and decide what are your favourite combinations. If you are using milk then try to use skimmed or 1%.
A small bowl of granola or some type of healthy cereal, again with the lower in fat milk. My personal favourite is Alpen or Bran Flakes.
A tin of tuna or sweetcorn, it might sound strange but I love to eat these as a snack.
Tinned fruit in natural juices not syrup.
Hard boiled eggs or Quorn scottch eggs.

If you guys have any great healthy recipes or snack ideas then please let me know, I am willing to try everything.

Later skaters
