Wee Oscar

This post is in remembrance of Oscar Knox, the five-year-old whose battle against neuroblastoma captured the hearts of people across Northern Ireland and the world. Sadly, wee Oscar passed away on the 9th of May, this has left many people completely devastated and saddened, we were all hoping and praying for him to make a recovery. The support and caring shown by people esp in N.I has moved me.

I have previously posted an entry about the situation in Northern Ireland and the reaction to Wee Oscars story really has given me hope for my country. As a sign of respect, the people of Belfast lit lanterns and released them into the sky at 10pm on Sunday, here is the news story. I watched them float up towards the sky from my bedroom window and can say that I genuinely felt so proud, at that very moment, to say that I am from Belfast.

This was my Facebook status from Sunday.

If you would like to know more about Oscar then follow the account for him on Twitter. There is also a Facebook page dedicated to his story. It would be so lovely and kind if you leave a comment or tweet a sign of respect to his family, I am sure they would greatly appreciate it.

My heart goes out to the Knox family and I hope that they have found the support and love from our community.

Later skaters
Love S xoxo
